The ongoing drawback to Google Fonts has been the smaller selection compared to other font services, but that’s rapidly changing. Even better, an editorialized web page called “Beautiful Web Type” has popped up that showcases the best fonts that Google has to offer. Loving this!

Add a new layer and then with the Brush Tool (B) with black for the color select the clouds preset. Then start painting on the edges to make the word much less uniform. Once you finish the word ad a layer underneath and fill with it white using the Paint Bucket Tool (N). Duplicate these layers a few times and hide them for future use. Select the white layer, the text layer and layer with the brush effect and merge them. Layer>Merge Layers.

A lovely growing website featuring the best of Google Web Fonts. I admit, when Google jumped into the web font pool, I was unimpressed by their selection. The quality and selection has much improved. Here’s to more beautiful type across the web.
